Giving Thanks From The Table

Nov 24, 2024    Impact Clergy

We can have gratitude for a place to run. Oftentimes in our life when we are in distress, we talk ourselves into just handling it! We’ve become masters of the “Gotta get through this” mindset. We want to rush through the pain, rush through the hurt, rush through the lessons that God wants us to learn in the trial.

There will be trials in life. We should not be surprised by financial hardships, relational struggles, professional setbacks, loss or health challenges. In every trial, seek to align your actions and attitudes with God's purposes and trust His deliverance. Turn to God in thanksgiving not just after the rescue, but during the storm.

Thanksgiving is a time of reflection on what the Father has already done for us. Two ways to reflect is (1) through our adoration of God (recognizing our love and appreciation of Him) and (2) our confessions of what He can do. This last part of the giving thanks from the table is about being thankful for our "therefore." Because of God's power, because of God's protection "therefore" we should be thankful. "Therefore" we should give thanks.
