Engage Thursday Lenten Bible Study – March 12, 2026 | Week 3
Title: Restored: Finding Redemption in Our Mess – Week 3
Scripture:
Romans 3:23–24
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
Summary:
In Week 3 of our Lenten study through Restored: Finding Redemption in Our Mess, we reflected on the truth that every person falls short of God’s glory and is in need of His grace. Romans 3 reminds us that although sin is universal, God’s grace is freely offered through Jesus Christ to restore and redeem our lives.
The discussion pointed to the powerful transformation of Saul becoming Paul as a reminder that no life is beyond the reach of God’s grace. If God could redirect the life of someone who once persecuted the church, then He can certainly transform the messes in our own lives.
We also explored the tension between our physical desires and our spiritual calling. Often we remain stuck in familiar patterns simply because they are comfortable, even when we know God is calling us toward something better. True change cannot happen through our own strength. It begins when God opens our eyes to the truth about ourselves and invites us to respond through repentance and trust.
Ultimately, restoration is not about hiding our mess or pretending it does not exist. It is about bringing our brokenness honestly before God and allowing His grace to transform us as we continue the lifelong journey of faith.
Key Takeaways:
1. Everyone falls short and needs grace.
Scripture reminds us that no one is perfect. We all need the redeeming grace that God freely offers through Jesus Christ.
2. God can transform any life.
The story of Saul becoming Paul shows that no one is beyond God’s ability to change, redirect, and restore.
3. Familiar patterns can keep us stuck.
Sometimes we remain in unhealthy habits simply because they feel comfortable, even when God is calling us to something better.
4. Repentance is part of transformation.
True restoration begins when we acknowledge where we have missed the mark and turn back toward God.
5. Grace opens our eyes to truth.
God’s justifying grace helps us see ourselves honestly and recognize our need for forgiveness and change.
6. Transformation is a lifelong journey.
The Christian life is not about quick fixes but about ongoing growth as we trust God, walk with Him, and allow His Spirit to shape our lives.
